About Joe

Joe Rosner is the Director of Best Defense of Illinois, and a nationally recognized expert on safety and self-defense. The author of “Street Smarts & Self-Defense for Children”, he is a highly regarded speaker and writer on the subject of crime prevention and self-defense for children as well as real estate and home health care professionals. He has been featured in the Chicago Tribune, Realtor Magazine, and other publications as well as on numerous radio and TV programs.

Joe helps people to "prepare without the scare" by using humor, audience participation and common sense ideas to be safe. He learned and tested simple, effective strategies to recognize and avoid dangerous people and situations and know what do when confronted by violence. He stresses, "Fighting back is never a good choice. Except when it's the only choice."

Joe developed a personal (And sincere!) interest in self-defense and crime prevention as a child living on the gang infested South Side of Chicago. Not only was street crime common, Joe's best friend was taken in to a basement and sexually assaulted by an adult predator while on his way to visit Joe one Saturday morning.
