About Bernard
Bernard Liebowitz, PhD, is president of the Chicago-based consulting firm of Liebowitz & Associates, PC. His undergraduate degree (with Honors) is from Brandeis University in Boston and his doctoral degree in psychology is from the University of Chicago.
Dr. Liebowitz has been consulting to business and industry since 1978 (both mid-sized entrepreneurial firms and Fortune 500 corporations such as DaimlerChrysler, Roche Diagnostics, CNA Insurance, etc.) in the areas of executive and management coaching and development, strategic planning, team building, organizational design and restructuring, and mergers and acquisitions.
He has aided many firms in developing efficient business structures and designs and has developed methodologies that help staff overcome their resistance to change. He has also developed processes that have made the merger of different firms with different cultures a more fluid process. His experience with CEOs and C-level executives is reflected on his book, "Succeeding at the Top" (published by the Business Expert Press).
His initial consulting focus was working with family owned businesses -- he was among the first psychologists in the mid-western area to focus on this niche. This continues to be a prominent specialty of his -- it has resulted in the publication of his book, "The Family in Business: The Dynamics of the Family Firm:"
He is a member of the American Psychological Association, Illinois Psychological Association, Institute of Management Consultants, American Society for Training & Development, Society for Human Relations Management, TEC Associates, Athena Foundation and Menttium.
He serves on the Executive Boards of the Organization Design Forum and American Israel Chamber of Commerce (Vice President), and on the Chicago Board of The Entrepreneurship Institute.
