With seven decades of sailboat experiences to draw upon, Bob Bernstein has found that the discipline and freedom of the open water have been fundamental to his success on land. Born in Oak Park, Illinois, he has built a multifaceted life as a parent, financial expert, inventor, and author, finding that the skills required to navigate the seas are often the same ones needed to navigate a career and family.

Holding degrees in Economics and an MBA, Bob views his professional achievements through the lens of a sailor. He believes that his life’s path has always been intertwined with the water, and that his greatest joys and successes in business and invention run parallel to the lessons learned over a lifetime of sailing.

In Chicago I have raced sailboats for a lifetime. I have won many races in many different boats. I have also crewed on many boats. Recently I have been tactician on offshore boats and continue to win with my Rhodes 19 sailboat.
